PITTSBURGH -- The Braves relieved Fredi Gonzalez of his managerial duties on Tuesday morning, according to sources. He has been replaced by Triple-A Gwinnett skipper Brian Snitker. The Braves have not yet announced the moves.In addition, bench coach Carlos Tosca was also dismissed. First-base coach Terry Pendleton becomes the bench coach, bullpen coach Eddie Perez moves to first base and Marty Reed becomes the bullpen coach.
Gonzalez had been Atlanta's manager since Bobby Cox retired at the conclusion of the 2010 season. Atlanta is 9-28 this year and the club had been discussing the potential of making a managerial change over the past couple of weeks.
Snitker has served as a player, coach and Minor League manager in Atlanta's organization dating back to 1977. The 60-year-old Atlanta resident was a member of Atlanta's coaching staff from 2007-13.
