Baseball players suffer the weirdest injuries.
Add Erick Aybar to the list, as the Atlanta Braves shortstop was reportedly hospitalized after accidentally swallowing a chicken bone during his pregame lunch.
We thought the Braves had reached rock bottom earlier this week when manager Fredi Gonazalez was tipped off to his looming termination by his travel itinerary. Atlanta enters Thursday's games tied for the worst record in baseball at 10-29, 13.5 games back of the Nationals in the NL East.

We hope Aybar recovers quickly and fully from his run-in with his marrow-filled adversary, but maybe he could use a day off. His .412 OPS is the lowest in the majors for players with a minimum of 100 plate appearances. He's reached base safely just 11 times in the month of May, a span of 56 PAs. That's an on-base percentage that's lower than the batting-average-based Mendoza line.
On the bright side, at least he didn't injure himself while sneezing.
