Wednesday night at Fenway Park the Red Sox held a pregame ceremony to honor the 1986 AL pennant winning team. As I'm sure you know, that 1986 Red Sox team lost the World Series to the Mets thanks in part to Bill Buckner's error.
As part of the pregame ceremony the Red Sox brought members of that 1986 team on the field. Everyone from Roger Clemens to Wade Boggs was there. And yes, so was Buckner. Here's the video:

Very nice ceremony. Well done.
But wait! We have some quasi-controversy. During the national anthem cameras caught Boggs wearing his 1996 World Series ring during the ceremony, a ring he won while playing for the rival Yankees. Check it out:

Awkward! I'm guessing this would be a much bigger deal had the Red Sox not since broken the curse and won three World Series titles in the last 12 years. For a while BoSox fans were not too happy Boggs won a title with the rival Yankees.
Boggs played with the Red Sox from 1982-92 -- he won five batting titles with Boston (1983, 1985-88) -- before signing with the Yankees as a free agent. He played in New York from 1993-97 and closed out his Hall of Fame career with two seasons with the Devil Rays.
The Red Sox will finally retire No. 26 in honor of Boggs this season. It's been a long time coming. The number retirement ceremony is Thursday night
