On Sunday, the Royals scored a 2-1 victory over the Tigers in 13 innings. The best result, however, came in the parking lot.
That's where a group of early-departing fans overhead a dog whimpering in what turned out to be a locked car, according to the Kansas City Star. What's more is, upon closer inspection, the fans discovered the dog in question was a pup -- and that it had no water or food.

Luckily, the good samartians acted upon their impulse to help and called the police department, who then got in touch with the stadium's guest services. From there, they were able to push down a cracked window and rescue the dog.
Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be an isolated incident -- whether it's in general, or at the ballpark:
Anthony Mozzicato, director of guest services for the Royals, said about once a month they are called to rescue a dog left in a car at Kauffman Stadium. "I'm not sure why people do it," Mozzicato said. "It puts us in a really awkward situation."
We're not sure why people do it, either. But until they stop, let's be thankful that there are some kind-souled folks out there who aren't willing to let a dog perish.
