New York Yankees pitching prospect Alexander Figueredo was shot and killed in Venezuela in November, the organization confirmed to the New York Daily News.

Figueredo, 20, was shot during a party on Nov. 27 in his native Venezuela, according to a report by Notitrade.
Figueredo, who didn’t pitch in 2016, went 5-0 with a 1.89 ERA in 12 games (11 starts) in the Dominican Summer League in 2015 season. He struck out 52 batters in 57 innings.
