Cubs right-hander Brandon Morrow's season is over because of a right elbow bone bruise.
"Every time he pitched, it got worse," said president of baseball operations Theo Epstein on Tuesday.
Morrow was placed on the disabled list, retroactive to July 18, with right biceps inflammation, but the latest diagnosis was a bone bruise in his right elbow.

Morrow, who began this season as the Cubs' closer, was expected to be activated from the DL and return to the Cubs' bullpen this week for the first time since mid-July if he continued to feel good after a 19-pitch simulated game on Saturday at Wrigley Field.
In 35 appearances, Morrow saved 22 games and blew just two opportunities.
