On Sunday, Brewers prospect Nathan Orf manned all nine positions -- pitcher and catcher obviously numbered among them -- in the course of a single game ...
That single game was the Brevard County Manatees' season finale, and manager Joe Ayrault let Orf know before the game that he would be seeing time at all points on the field. Here, courtesy of MiLB.com's Kelsie Heneghan, is how Ayrault characterized that conversation ...
"His face lit up, there was a big smile on his face. He was bouncing around the clubhouse. ... Even his teammates were excited. Nathan is very versatile; he's the perfect guy to do it. ... He's just a guy where you know he's going to go out and make the plays, no matter what position he's at."
Further proof of the day's events ...

For the game, Orf went 0 for 2 with a walk at the plate and on the mound recorded one out without allowing any hits or runs. The 24-year-old Orf, a Baylor product, has a line of .294/.403/.392 across parts of two minor-league seasons. He's a primary second baseman, but, to say the least, positional flexibility is among his merits.
The best news of all? As Heneghan notes, after the game the Brewers promoted Orf to Double-A in time for the playoffs. Dayn Perry/CBS Sports
