The White Sox added a veteran power bat to mix with their young sluggers Friday evening, agreeing to a two-year, $25-million contract with first baseman Adam LaRoche, sources have told MLB.com.
The agreement was first reported by USA Today's Bob Nightengale.
LaRoche, 35, is an 11-year Major League veteran who spent the past four seasons with the Nationals, hitting .259/.362/.455 with 26 home runs and 92 RBIs in 2014.

White Sox sign Adam LaRoche for two-years, $25 million

LaRoche is a standout defensively, winning the 2012 National League Gold Glove Award. He and 2014 American League Rookie of the Year Jose Abreu likely will split time between first base and designated hitter.
Offensively, the left-handed-hitting LaRoche will complement Abreu and right fielder Avisail Garcia, each right-handed hitters, in the middle of the order.
LaRoche is highly regarded in the clubhouse and was a key part in the young Nationals maturing into a team that won the NL East two of the past three years.
The White Sox, with the loss of club icon Paul Konerko to retirement and other veterans via the past couple of years, likely believe LaRoche will be a valuable veteran presence for Abreu, Garcia and other young players as general manager Rick Hahn's reshaping process continues to come together.
