SAN DIEGO -- The Reds traded right-hander Alfredo Simon to the Tigers on Thursday for 2013 first-round Draft pick Jonathon Crawford, a right-hander, and infielder Eugenio Suarez.
"We try to build our organization around pitching as much as we can, and Suarez is a guy that really adds substantial depth to our middle infield, which was a definite weakness for us as an organization," Reds president of baseball operations and general manager Walt Jocketty said. "It's a deal that I think works well for both clubs."
