SAN DIEGO -- The Rangers are acquiring left-handed pitcher Ross Detwiler from the Nationals, a source told MLB.com on Thursday.
The Rangers are giving up two Minor Leaguers in the trade, which hasn't been confirmed by the club. The trade is pending review of medical records.
Detwiler was the Nationals' first-round pick in the 2007 First-Year Player Draft out of Missouri State and has been used as a starter and a reliever over his seven-year career.

The Rangers are expected to give him an opportunity to start, although he could end up as a setup reliever.
He was used in relief this season and was 2-3 with a 4.00 ERA in 47 appearances. He averaged 5.6 strikeouts, 3.0 walks and 9.7 hits per nine innings.
Detwiler's most productive season was in 2012 when he went 10-8 with a 3.40 ERA in 27 starts and six relief appearances. He was 2-7 with a 4.04 ERA in 13 starts in 2013 while missing the last three months of the season with a strained back. He was moved to the bullpen in 2014.
He relies mainly on a 93-mph fastball with a curve and changeup.
