Wrigley Field, home of the rebuilt and quite possibly ready to contend Cubs, is of course undergoing a rather substantial makeover. As part of said makeover, the Cubs are rebuilding the outfield bleachers. While the original goal had been to have everything in fighting shape by Opening Day, that deadline isn't going to be met, as the team confirmed on Saturday ...

There will be a total of 15 Cubs home games affected by the delay in the construction of the Budweiser Bleachers, which will open by May 11.

That means that roughly 4,500 seats won't be available for the first month-plus of the season. Needless to say, that's not optimal for a team that's conjured up a lot of enthusiasm among its fans this offseason. As well, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat tweets that the right field bleachers likely won't be open until late May.Developing, it would seem.
