SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants completed another offseason free from salary arbitration by agreeing with third baseman Casey McGehee on a one-year contract, the club announced Thursday.McGehee was the last arbitration-eligible player to come to terms with the Giants. They have not endured an arbitration hearing since 2004, when they reached an impasse with catcher A.J. Pierzynski.
An industry source confirmed multiple reports that McGehee, 32, will receive $4.8 million this year. He filed for $5.4 million in arbitration; the Giants countered with $4 million. McGehee's wage thus slightly exceeded the midpoint figure, where clubs and players typically compromise, of $4.7 million. 
McGehee's previous top Major League salary was $2,537,500 in 2012 with Pittsburgh. He played in Japan in 2013 before returning to the U.S., where he earned $1.1 million while playing for Miami last season. McGehee set himself up for his final year of arbitration eligibility by batting .287 with 76 RBIs in a career-high 160 games for the Marlins. Seeking a replacement for third baseman Pablo Sandoval, the Giants obtained McGehee in December for a pair of Minor League pitchers.Before settling with McGehee, the Giants reached accords with first baseman Brandon Belt ($3.6 million), outfielder Gregor Blanco (two years, $7.5 million), shortstop Brandon Crawford ($3.175 million), first baseman Travis Ishikawa ($1.1 million), right-hander Yusmeiro Petit ($2.1 million) and catcher Hector Sanchez ($800,000).
