A photo of new Red Sox third baseman Pablo Sandoval at a team workout surfaced Tuesday, and he didn’t look to be in the best of shape.Sandoval is listed at 245 pounds, but the photo had to be concerning for the Red Sox, who signed the former World Series MVP to a five-year, $95 million contract in November.

Sandoval is listed at 5-foot-11 and 245 pounds, though last offseason he shed 30 pounds and showed up for spring training looking almost svelte.
"Let them talk, talk and criticize," Sandoval told ESPN in defense of his physique. "No matter what they say, it will never change me or the player that I am."
Sandoval had a simple explanation for the photo.
"Critics have said that I am lazy, that I am not working hard. That picture caught me at a bad angle,” Sandoval told ESPN. “But once again, let them say whatever they want to say. I will prove who I am on the field and show Boston fans how hard I am working to be a champion with this team, too.

"Sandoval’s round body is nothing new, but it’s always odd to see a professional athlete who's making millions look like the guy running the hot dog cart outside the stadium.
