New York Mets relief pitcher Jenrry Mejia, who began the season as the club's projected closer, was suspended for 80 games Saturday after he tested positive for stanozolol.Mejia, 25, becomes the fourth pitcher suspended in a two-week span for the steroid, which has made an unlikely comeback. 
On Opening Day, commissioner Rob Manfred expressed surprise at the suspensions levied on pitchers Ervin Santana of the Minnesota Twins, Arodys Vizcaino of the Atlanta Braves and Seattle Mariners minor leaguer David Rollins"The drug involved," he said before the Nationals-Mets opener, "is one that's not particularly hard to catch."A few hours later, Mejia warmed up to pitch the ninth inning for the Mets, but reported pain in his elbow and later was placed on the 15-day disabled list with inflammation.Mejia saved 28 games for the Mets in 2014 after closer Bobby Parnell needed Tommy John surgery on his elbow, and was expected to hold that role again, perhaps even after Parnell's return.Gabe Lacques/ USA TODAY Sports
