On Thursday night, the Brewers sent Gomez, along with right-hander Mike Fiers, to Houston in exchange for four prospects and international signing slot No. 76.
Gomez, who was rumored to have been dealt to the Mets on Wednesday, is hitting .262/.328/.423 this season with eight homers. The 29-year-old center fielder and two-time All-Star will be a free agent after the 2016 season.
Fiers, 30, is 5-9 with a 3.89 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP this season.
He has spent all five of his big league seasons with the Brewers, where he has posted a 3.66 ERA and 21 wins in 71 games.
The Brewers receive left-hander Josh Hader, right-hander Adrian Houser and outfielders Brett Phillips and Domingo Santana.
Breaking down the return package, Phillips was the Astros' No. 2-ranked prospect and No. 39 overall, according to MLBPipeline.com. Santana checked in as the club's No. 7 prospect (87th overall), while Hader was ranked No. 14 and Houser was No. 21 in Houston's organization.
