The Los Angeles Dodgers re-acquired outfielder Chris Heisey from the Toronto Blue Jays in a trade, both teams reported Tuesday. The Jays will receive a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Heisey began the season with the Dodgers, who released him Aug. 7, but they obviously need more outfield depth because of recent injuries to Yasiel Puig and Kiké Hernandez.

Heisey's primary contribution probably will come on defense.
Heisey hit .154 with eight walks in 34 plate appearances with the Dodgers, and he was batting .155 with two home runs in 17 games for Buffalo, the Blue Jays' Triple-A team. Toronto signed him as a free agent Aug. 13.
