The Mariners landed veteran right-handed reliever Joaquin Benoit on Thursday from the Padres in return for two Minor League prospects.
Seattle swapped right-hander Enyel De Los Santos and infielder Nelson Ward in the deal, which was announced by general manager Jerry Dipoto.
Benoit, 38, compiled a 2.34 ERA in 67 appearances with the Padres in 2015, his fourth team of a 15-year career.

In his two seasons and 120 outings with San Diego, Benoit had an excellent WHIP of 0.84.
"Joaquin is a proven late-game presence who brings both stability and impact to the back end of our bullpen," Dipoto said. "We value his experience, track record of durability and consistently high-end performance."
De Los Santos, 19, went 6-0 with a 3.47 ERA in 13 starts between the Rookie-level Mariners and Class A Short-Season Everett as a first-year pro in 2015. Ward, 23, split the 2015 season between Class A Clinton and Class A Advanced Bakersfield, batting .278 with 41 extra-base hits in 122 games, most of them at second base.
