The Angels on Tuesday announced that they signed veteran infielder Cliff Pennington to a two-year contract. Per Jerry Crasnick, the deal will pay Pennington a total of $3.75 million plus the opportunity for additional incentives.

The switch-hitting Pennington, 31, has a career slash line of .245/.313/.344 (81 OPS+) with 80 stolen bases in 794 games. He's regarded as a defensive asset while also having the ability to man four different positions, including shortstop, where he has logged the majority of his defensive innings. Pennington spent the 2015 season with the Diamondbacks and Blue Jays.
