NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Yankees have acquired infielder Starlin Castro from the Cubs in exchange for right-hander Adam Warren and a player to be named, MLB.com has confirmed.
The transaction has not been announced by the clubs, but Castro's move to New York immediately follows news of the Cubs' signing of free agent Ben Zobrist, who agreed to a four-year, $56 million deal on Tuesday evening.

Castro projects to take over as New York's starting second baseman and comes at the price of Warren, whom the Yankees envisioned as a candidate for their starting rotation. The player to be named will reportedly be infielder Brendan Ryan.
Warren was 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA in 43 games (17 starts) for the Yankees in 2015. He was considered expendable as the club sought an upgrade over the tandem of Dustin Ackley and Rob Refsnyder at second base.
The Yankees have been linked to the right-handed-hitting Castro at various times over the past several weeks. He turns 26 in March and is coming off a season in which he batted .265/.296/.375 with 11 home runs and 69 RBIs in 151 games. Castro is owed $38 million through the 2019 season.
Having upgraded at second base, the Yankees continue to be in the market for starting pitching as well as additional bullpen help.
