NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- One day after agreeing to acquire Phillies closer Ken Giles, the Astros bolstered their bullpen further by reaching an agreement to re-sign left-handed pitcher Tony Sipp, a source told MLB.com on Thursday. The deal is pending a physical.
The club has not confirmed the agreement, which is for $18 million over three years, according to FoxSports.com.
Sipp, 32, went 3-4 with a 1.99 ERA in 60 games for Houston last season, holding right-handers to a .190 batting average.

His ERA ranked second in the American League among lefty relievers, behind Zach Britton (1.92), and was the lowest of his career.
Sipp was a free agent. He joined the Astros in May 2014 after being released by the Padres. Sipp has been in the Major Leagues for seven seasons, four of them with the Indians and one with the D-backs.
The addition of Giles and the return of Sipp gives Houston a solid bullpen that also includes Luke Gregerson, who was the closer last season, veteran Pat Neshek, Will Harris and Josh Fields.
