Alex Gordon will remain with the Kansas City Royals, as the outfielder agreed to a four-year, $72 million contract, a person with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed to USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the deal. CBS Sports and ESPN were the first to report Gordon's re-signing.

The deal gives Gordon, 31, the most guaranteed money in franchise history.
Gordon has spent his entire nine-season MLB career in Kansas City and was crucial part of the Royals’ championship run last season.
During the regular season, he hit .271 with 13 home runs and 48 RBI and a .371 on-base plus slugging percentage. He was limited to 109 games due to injury.
For his career, Gordon has 134 home runs and 523 RBI.
