Vanderbilt freshman pitcher Donny Everett died Thursday night in a drowning accident, according to the Tennessean.
The accident occured during a fishing trip, according to the report:
Everett's Vanderbilt teammates will play Friday night in an NCAA Regional matchup against Xavier.
Everett, 19, tried to swim across Normandy Lake while fishing with two Vanderbilt teammates and two other friends. He made it halfway across but was pulled under and never resurfaced, according to a report from the Coffee County Sheriff's Department.Vanderbilt's official baseball account tweeted this tribute to Everett on Friday:
