Thursday night in Miami, Marlins second baseman Dee Gordon will rejoin the club for their series opener against the Cardinals. Gordon has finished serving his 80-game suspension for violating the league's performance-enhancing drug policy.
A few hours prior to his return, Gordon posted an apology to fans on Twitter. Check it out:
The sentiment is nice, though I wonder why Gordon waited until the day of his return to deliver the apology. That seems like something he maybe should have done back in April, when he was first suspended.
Gordon, 28, led the league in hits (205), batting average (.333), and stolen bases (58) last season. He signed a five-year, $50 million contract extension in the offseason.
