Last night, the New York Mets pulled out an amazing, come-from-behind win over the Florida Marlins. Trailing by six runs, the team used a five-run seventh to eventually snatch an 8-7 victory from the jaws of defeat.
One of the heroes of the game was T.J. Rivera, who smacked a game-trying two-run double off reliever Brad Ziegler. However, his night may not be remembered so much for his on-the-field heroics as for his role in an unfortunate set of tweets sent out by the Mets.
With Rivera awarded player of the game and wearing an honorary crown in front of a row of players’ lockers, the team tweeted out a photo of the smiling player. And, sitting at the foot of Kevin Plawecki’s locker, in clear view of everyone, was an extremely large dildo.

New York Mets tweet — and delete — picture of dildo in player’s locker

As you’d guess, the Mets quickly deleted the tweet after they saw what was hanging out in one of their player’s lockers. And, according to the New York Post, they also had to delete a subsequent cleaned-up tweet because they were getting inundated with pics of Plawecki’s sex toy.
Since then, they’ve tweeted out a video of Rivera talking to reporters after the game, with the camera staying focused up high and nowhere near the danger zone.
Of course, folks had fun at the Mets’ expense over the whole situation on Twitter:
