SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants made their reunion with third baseman Pablo Sandoval official on Saturday, announcing that they reached contractual agreement with him.
Sandoval agreed to a Minor League deal with San Francisco and will report to Class A San Jose.
The 30-year-old infielder rejoins the team with which he won three World Series championships in seven years from 2008-14. A two-time All-Star with the Giants in 2011-12, Sandoval signed as a free agent with the Red Sox following the 2014 season, but did not have the same success in Boston as he had in San Francisco.     Pablo Sandoval returns to Giants with minor league contract   He batted .237 with 14 home runs and 59 RBIs in 161 games over a three-year span with Boston and was released by the club on July 19. Sandoval will attempt to get his career back on track in the Bay Area. He hit .294 with 106 homers and 462 RBIs in 869 games during his seven seasons with the Giants. "I have always loved and appreciated the Giants organization, my Giants teammates and the fans of San Francisco," Sandoval said in a statement released by the team. "I have so many great memories and I want to thank the organization for giving me another chance to come back here. When I left the Giants in 2014, my comments were emotional, insensitive and misguided and I truly regret and apologize for my actions. I am committed to working hard to contributing to the success of the Giants".
