Milwaukee has acquired the 29-year-old third baseman from Kansas City in exchange for outfield prospect Brett Phillips and relief pitcher Jorge Lopez, according to a report from MLB.com. The Red Sox and Braves had also reportedly expressed interest in Moustakas.
Per source: The Royals have agreed to a deal with the Brewers for Mike Moustakas for Minor Leaguers Brett Phillips and Jorge Lopez. Moustakas has registered a .249/.309/.468 slash line so far this season. He has also hit 20 home runs and tallied 62 RBIs. 
Moustakas, a two-time All-Star, had spent all eight of his MLB seasons with the Royals. He won the World Series with Kansas City in 2015.
Milwaukee will move current starting third baseman Travis Shaw to second, according to an earlier report from MLB Network. Shaw has recorded a .246 batting average with 19 home runs and 59 RBIs this season.
The Brewers acquired reliever Joakim Soria from the White Sox earlier this week.
Milwaukee is currently second in the National League Central with a 59-46 record. The Royals are well out of playoff contention at 31-71.
