Major League Baseball announced three suspensions on Tuesday for individuals involved in the incident between the Pirates and Reds on Sunday in the top of the fourth inning. The incident began when Chris Archer threw a pitch that went behind the Reds’ Derek Dietrich, who had homered earlier in the game.
Archer has been suspended five games and fined an undisclosed amount. His suspension is subject to appeal.
Reds outfielder Yasiel Puig has been suspended for two games and he was also fined. He will serve his suspension beginning tonight, when the Reds host the Marlins.
Cincinnati manager David Bell was also suspended, one game, and fined. He will also serve his suspension tonight.
