MIAMI -- Alexi Amarista drilled a pinch-hit, three-run home run in the seventh inning Sunday to lift the Padres to a 4-2 victory over the Marlins before a crowd of 22,496 at Marlins Park.
Amarista fouled off six pitches during his at-bat against Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi (1-1), who had pitched a gem to that point. On a 2-2 pitch, Amarista lifted a fastball over the fence in right field.
Will Venable and Tommy Medica reached base on singles before the home run.
