CLEVELAND -- Robbie Erlin allowed one run in six innings and Chase Headley picked a good time for his first RBI of the season as the Padres defeated the Indians, 2-1, in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday at Progressive Field.
The Indians won the first game, 2-0.
Erlin (1-0), the team's fifth starter, allowed four hits with no walks and six strikeouts to help the Padres pick up a win in the three-game series.
Headley, who entered the game hitting .107, put the Padres in front for good with an RBI single in the sixth inning.

Cleveland starter Trevor Bauer, added as the 26th player for the doubleheader, allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits in six innings. Bauer (0-1) walked two and had a career-high eight strikeouts.
The Padres (3-6) scored first, as Everth Cabrera reached base on an error and advanced to second base when the ball went out of play. He scored when Chris Denorfia was credited with a double to right as Indians' right fielder Elliot Johnson bobbled the ball before dropping it on the transfer.
The play was ruled a no catch, but Indians' manager Terry Francona challenged the ruling on the field. After using replay to review the call, the umpires ruled no catch and the play stood.
Seth Smith then knocked in the Padres' first, first-inning run of the season with a ground ball to make it 1-0.
The Indians (5-4) got a run back in the third inning after Yan Gomes and Asdrubal Cabrera reached on singles, the last of which sending Gomes to third base. Mike Aviles followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the game.
The Padres are off on Thursday before opening a three-game series on Friday against the Tigers at Petco Park.
