MINNEAPOLIS -- For a second straight game, the Twins capitalized on Royals' defensive miscues. This time, a throwing error in the eighth inning by Kansas City reliever Wade Davis led to a pair of runs and a series sweep of the Royals following a 4-3 victory on Sunday.
Reliever Aaron Crow started the eighth, but he walked the first two batters and Davis entered the game. Davis struck out Joe Mauer, but he walked Trevor Plouffe to load the bases. That brought up Chris Herrmann, who had just entered as a defensive replacement.

Herrmann tapped back to Davis, who hesitated for a moment, then threw the ball past catcher Salvador Perez. Instead of a potential double play to end the inning, the error allowed two runs to score.
Twins starter Kevin Correia was cruising through seven shutout innings and staked to a 2-0 lead before trouble arose in the eighth. He walked Mike Moustakas to start the frame, then Lorenzo Cain singled. Alcides Escobar reached on a bunt single, with Moustakas scoring following a Trevor Plouffe throwing error.
Facing Twins reliever Brian Duensing, Nori Aoki laid down a perfect sacrifice, scoring Cain from third. Duensing retired Omar Infante on a groundout before surrendering an RBI double to Eric Hosmer, giving K.C. a 3-2 lead.
Designated hitter Josmil Pinto broke a scoreless tie in the seventh with a two-run homer off Royals starter Jason Vargas. It was Pinto's third long ball of the season and second of the series.
Closer Glen Perkins entered in the ninth and pitched a perfect frame to secure his third save of the season.
With Correia's effort on Sunday, he followed Kyle Gibson and Ricky Nolasco to give the Twins three consecutive quality starts.
