CHICAGO -- Already this week, the Red Sox dodged major injuries to Dustin Pedroia and Koji Uehara. And it appears they were fortunate again on Tuesday night, as Mike Napoli merely suffered a dislocated left ring finger on a gruesome play in the top of the ninth inning of a 2-1 loss to the White Sox. 
Napoli dove headfirst to get to second on a wild pitch, but his finger bent completely backwards over the bag.Following the game, X-rays revealed no fracture and just the dislocation. The first baseman is day to day."It's not broke," Napoli said. "I can play with some soreness. We'll see how it feels tomorrow."The Red Sox will at least get Pedroia back on Wednesday. In fact, he came on as a pinch-runner for Napoli and remained in the game at second base for the bottom of the ninth.Napoli was worried at first."I saw my finger sideways," said Napoli. "The first thing I thought was -- I don't really know what to think. But I've seen people with dislocated fingers before. They pop it back in. It will be sore."Ian Browne / MLB.com
