DENVER -- The Giants finally showed some offensive life Wednesday. They hit six home runs, two each by Michael Morse and Hector Sanchez, whose 11th-inning grand slam gave San Francisco a 12-10 victory over the Rockies. And they overcame an early four-run deficit as starter Matt Cain was trying to find his footing.
But it took a tremendous outing by left-hander Jeremy Affeldt in relief of Cain and Sanchez's two homers to avoid being swept in their three-game series.

Sanchez's slam in 11th helps Giants beat Rockies 12-10

After Hunter Pence singled off Chad Bettis to open the 11th, Brandon Belt walked. Following Juan Perez's sacrifice bunt, Bettis intentionally walked Joaquin Arias to load the bases for Sanchez, who capped a 10-pitch at-bat with his first career grand slam.
Sergio Romo allowed a two-run shot by Justin Morneau in the bottom of the frame before closing out the win.
In the eighth, Sanchez homered on the first pitch from Matt Belise, who had just entered the game, to put the Giants ahead, 8-7.
Santiago Casilla took the mound in the eighth for the Giants and gave up a leadoff single to DJ LeMahieu. He was sacrificed to second and took third when third-base umpire Bob Davidson called a balk on Casilla. With the infield in, second baseman Brandon Hicks backhanded Charlie Blackmon's grounder but dropped it, taking away any play at the plate as LeMahieu scored to tie the game at 8.
Cain pitched into the seventh after allowing five runs in the first two innings. Affeldt relieved him with the game tied at 7, no outs and runners on first and second. Affeldt struck out Morneau and Wilin Rosario and walked pinch-hitter Drew Stubbs but left the bases loaded by spearing Brandon Barnes' hard bouncer.
The Giants took their first lead in the seventh when Belt hit a two-run shot off left-hander Rex Brothers, who had walked Pence, the batter before Belt. But the Giants' 7-6 lead quickly vanished when Cain walked Blackmon to open the bottom of the seventh.
Blackmon stole second and scored on an opposite-field double by Nolan Arenado, who extended his career-long hitting streak to 14 games. Cain then walked Troy Tulowitzki and was relieved by Affeldt, who escaped the jam.
With one out in the fourth, Blackmon hit his fifth home run to put the Rockies ahead, 6-5. Morse hit a three-run shot in the third that tied the game at 5 and gave him five homers this season. It was his seventh multi-homer game and first since April 2, 2013, at Oakland while playing for the Mariners.
The home run was just the second hit in the series by the Giants with a runner in scoring position and the first that scored a run. They went 1-for-19 in those situations while losing the first two games of the series.
Hicks, who had a career-high three hits, opened the third with a home run, and Morse led off the second with a homer against Tyler Chatwood, who had given up one homer in 13 innings in his first two starts of the season. Chatwood allowed seven hits, four walks and five runs in six innings while throwing 100 pitches, just 53 strikes.
Cain began the game by giving up an opposite-field bloop single to Blackmon, who scored when Tulowitzki homered with one out. Cain gave up three straight singles to start the second, the third being a slug-bunt by Chatwood, who hit the ball just over second baseman Hicks. Blackmon grounded into a run-scoring fielder's choice that left runners on first and third, and a second run scored when first baseman Belt failed to catch Cain's low pickoff throw. Tulowitzki's two-out single made it 5-1.
