SAN DIEGO -- Jedd Gyorko hit two home runs, including a grand slam, and had six RBIs to lift the Padres to a 10-1 victory over the Marlins before a crowd of 22,553 at Petco Park on Friday night.
Gyorko's home runs came off Marlins starting pitcher Jose Fernandez, who allowed six runs -- five of them earned -- in five-plus innings. The grand slam to left field in the sixth inning made it 6-0 and ended Fernandez's night.
San Diego starting pitcher Tyson Ross (4-3) was sharp most of the night. He allowed one run on four hits in seven innings. Ross allowed his lone run on a home run to Marcell Ozuna with two outs in the seventh inning. Ross finished with two walks and eight strikeouts, many of them on his hard slider.

The home runs proved to be redemption for Gyorko, who committed an error in the 11th inning on Thursday night that extended the inning in which Giancarlo Stanton hit a two-run home run in a 3-1 win by the Marlins.
In his first two career starts against the Padres -- one last season and then a second start last month -- Fernandez (4-2) was 2-0 with 14 2/3 scoreless innings, five hits allowed and 18 strikeouts.
In addition to Gyorko's two hits, Seth Smith and Yonder Alonso each had two hits for the Padres (16-21), who had a season high in runs and the most hits in one inning (six).
All told, the Padres sent 11 batters to the plate in the six-run sixth inning against Fernandez and reliever Brad Hand.
With the loss, the Marlins fell to 20-16.
