HOUSTON -- The good news for the White Sox is that Adam Eaton has returned from his injury rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Charlotte, reinstated from the 15-day disabled list prior to Sunday's series finale in Houston.
But the bad news is that Eaton will take the active roster spot of Jose Abreu, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list with posterior tibia tendonitis in his left ankle, which is being described as essentially inflammation.

Abreu, 27, is hitting .260 with 15 homers and 41 RBIs. He leads the Majors in homers and is tied for the lead in extra-base hits at 27. The ankle issue has bothered the slugger for the past 10 days or so, with Abreu starting his last eight games at designated hitter.
Manager Robin Ventura pinch-hit for Abreu with Paul Konerko in the seventh inning Saturday, when a swing in Abreu's previous at-bat just didn't look right. While Abreu had fought to stay in the lineup, he understood Saturday that he needed to get the ankle healthy first and foremost.
Eaton, 25, has been on the disabled list since May 3 with a strained right hamstring. He combined to go 2-for-6 with an RBI and a stolen base over two games with Charlotte as part of a doubleheader on Friday.
