Tulsa kicker Cole Way has decided to pursue a career in professional baseball after being selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 38th round of the Major League Baseball draft.
Way handled both the punting and kickoff duties during his three seasons with the Golden Hurricanes. In 2013 he had 33 touchbacks on 55 kicks as a kickoff specialist.

"First of all, I am excited for Cole's opportunity, but selfishly we are disappointed because he brings so much to our team," Tulsa coach Bill Blankenship said Monday. "Cole is one of the real leaders of this team in terms of the emotions and spirit. He is a great encourager. He has been in our program almost four years and he knows how it is done. We are going to miss that leadership from him, but we wish him the very best."
The 6-foot-8 Tulsa, Okla. native has not pitched competitively since his senior year at Union High School.
