CHICAGO -- Anthony Rizzo smacked a walk-off RBI single with one out in the 12th inning Sunday to lift the Cubs to a 3-2 Interleague victory over the Rays and avoid a sweep.
With the game tied at 2, Ryan Sweeney greeted Cesar Ramos with a single to center, and advanced on Chris Coghlan's sacrifice. Javier Baez, who hit a game-winning home run in the 12th inning in his Major League debut last Tuesday in Denver, then struck out, but he was able to reach first on a wild pitch.

Another wild pitch allowed Baez to reach second. The Rays brought in an extra infielder, but Rizzo lined the ball into right field for the game-winner.
With the win, the Cubs are 6-8 in Interleague play with six games remaining against the Orioles (Aug. 22-24) and Blue Jays (Sept. 8-10).
The Cubs had runners at first and second with two outs in the ninth, but lefty Jeff Beliveau struck out Coghlan to force extra innings. It's Chicago's sixth extra-inning game in the last 12.
The Cubs didn't help themselves, striking out 17 times on Sunday. According to Elias, it's the first time in the modern era the Cubs have fanned at least 15 times in back-to-back games. They struck out 15 times on Saturday in a 4-0 loss.
The Cubs wore throwback uniforms from 1988. The Rays didn't even exist then, and wore blue and yellow retro uniforms that looked like a variation on the Padres' jerseys from the late '70s.
Curt Casali doubled to open the Rays fifth, only the second hit off Travis Wood, and after Alex Cobb struck out on a bunt attempt, Logan Forsythe walked. Desmond Jennings then hit a grounder to second baseman Baez, who made a nice barehanded grab of the ball but threw wide to first for an error, allowing Casali to score.
Wood singled with one out in the fifth off Cobb and scored one out later on Baez's single that zipped through a defensive shift on the left side of the infield.
Wood did not get a decision, and remained winless in his last 10 starts. The left-hander, who has not won since June 15, scattered four hits over six innings.
Neil Ramirez, activated from the disabled list earlier Sunday, started the Rays' seventh and served up a single to pinch-hitter Brandon Guyer, who stole second. One out later, Guyer scored on Jennings' double.
Sweeney doubled with two outs in the Chicago seventh against Grant Balfour, and scored on Coghlan's triple into the right-field corner to tie the game at 2.
