The surging Royals on Monday moved to bolster their outfield by acquiring Josh Willingam from the Twins in exchange for minor-league right-hander Jason Adam.Willingham, age 35, is batting .210/.345/.402 (110 OPS+) on the season. For his career, he owns an OPS+ of 121. In 2012, he hit a career-high 35 homers for the Twins and won a Silver Slugger. 
Willingham is owed the balance of a $7-million salary for this season and eligible for free agency this upcoming winter.As for Adam, age 23, this season he's pitched 27 games, 18 of which have been starts, between the Double-A and Triple-A levels. Over that span, he's pitched to a 4.67 ERA with 100 strikeouts against 34 walks.To take Willingham's spot on the active roster, the Twins have activated Joe Mauer from the DL.Dayn Perry/CBS sports
