DENVER -- Few could have predicted Henderson Alvarez's breakout season would play out the way it has after he lasted just three innings against the Rockies to open the year.
Friday's visit to Coors Field marked Alvarez's first chance at revenge. And while it wasn't exactly pretty, Alvarez effectively weathered 10 hits to earn his fourth consecutive win, pushing the Marlins back over .500 with a 13-5 victory.

Ozuna's slam helps Marlins beat Rockies 13-5

The Marlins scored more than 12 runs for just the third time this season. It was their highest output since a 14-5 win on May 21 against the Phillies. They broke it up in a six-run ninth, bringing nine to the plate, including Marcell Ozuna, who belted his second grand slam of the season.
The Rockies actually got to Alvarez (10-5) for more earned runs this time out, and the hits were the most he has allowed in a game since May 16. But all the Rockies' runs came on two swings, with Justin Morneau and Corey Dickerson each depositing two-run homers over the right-field fence.
As he struck out five and walked none, Alvarez's six innings were enough for him to register the first 10-win season of his career. And it certainly didn't hurt that his opposition, left-hander Franklin Morales, was not on his game.
After striking out three of the four Marlins he faced in the first, Morales loaded the bases with three straight singles to start the second. Donovan Solano's fielder's-choice grounder was enough to score one before Alvarez made it a 2-0 game with a sacrifice fly to center.
Back-to-back, third-inning doubles from Jeff Baker and Giancarlo Stanton gave the Marlins another run. And after Casey McGehee's groundout kept with Friday's theme of productive outs by moving Stanton to third, Marcell Ozuna brought home a fourth run with another sacrifice fly to center.
Morales managed to build off Morneau's third-inning homer with a 1-2-3 fourth, but that momentum was nowhere to be found come the fifth. After the first three Marlins reached to begin the frame, Casey McGehee's nine-pitch walk put Miami up 5-2 and put an end to Morales' evening.
In taking over, right-hander Brooks Brown produced three outs on two grounders, but not before Jarrod Saltalamacchia walked to bring in another run.
The Marlins made the Rockies pay with another walk in the seventh when Solano doubled home Adeiny Hechavaria following his two-out free pass from right-hander Matt Belisle.
