SAN DIEGO -- Rene Rivera 's game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th inning Wednesday gave the Padres a 3-2 victory over the Brewers before a crowd of 21,156 at Petco Park.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Rivera tied the game with a home run to left field off of Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez.
The Brewers took a 2-1 lead into the ninth inning after scoring twice in the seventh inning, when Elian Herrera had an RBI double and later scored from third base on a passed ball on Rivera.

Gallardo allowed three hits in six scoreless innings with three walks and no strikeouts. He got 12 groundball outs.
The Padres (62-70) came back in the bottom of the inning and put runners on the corners with no outs but they too couldn't score.
The Padres made it 2-1 in the seventh inning when pinch-hitter Jake Goebbert knocked in a run with a single to left field.
The Brewers (73-60) dropped two of three games in the series.
