SAN DIEGO -- Alexi Amarista and Cameron Maybin each drove in two runs and pitcher Odrisamer Despaigne allowed two hits over seven shutout innings Friday night as the Padres defeated the Giants, 5-0, before a crowd of 34,472 at Petco Park.
The Padres (72-81) roughed up Giants pitcher Tim Hudson, getting to him early, as Amarista and Maybin had big hits in a four-run first inning.

Despaigne continues dominance of Giants in 5-0 win

Amarista had a two-run double, giving him 10 RBIs in his last seven games. Maybin followed with a two-run single.
All told, Hudson (9-12) allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings with two walks and two strikeouts.
Despaigne, who threw seven shutout innings in his Major League debut against the Giants on June 23, walked one, struck out six and got nine ground-ball outs.
He has allowed one earned run in 20 innings covering three starts against the Giants this season.
The Giants (84-69) didn't get their first hit off Despaigne until Joe Panik led off the fourth inning with a double. But Despaigne retired the next three hitters to avoid any real trouble. Panik had both of the Giants' hits off Despaigne.
