Free agent left-hander Troy Patton has been suspended 80 games for amphetamine use, MLB announced. His suspension takes effect as soon as he signs a contract.This is Patton's third offense. First-time amphetamine offenders are not suspended. Second-timers get a 25-game ban and third-timers get 80 games. Patton was suspended 25 games last offseason and served it at the start of 2014.Patton, 29, had a 5.14 ERA in 14 innings with the Orioles and Padres this past season.
